Abstract: Abstract Coordination is an important requirement for most Multiagent Systems. A setplay is a particular instance of a coordinated plan for multi-robot systems in collective sports. Setplays are usually designed by robotics specialists using some existing tools, like the SPlanner, or by hand-coding. This work presents recent improvements to the Strategy Planner (SPlanner) and its corresponding FCPortugal Setplays Framework (FSF) to provide sophisticated setplays. This toolkit is useful to design strategic plans for robotic soccer teams as a particular case of Multi-Agent Systems (MASs). The new enhancements enable more realistic setplays, including, but not limited to, the definition of better pass strategies and defensive setplays. The enhanced tool is used to populate a dataset with demonstrations made by soccer experts and used in a Learning from Demonstration (LfD) approach to allow robotic soccer teams to learn new setplays. A new demonstration mode in the RoboCup Soccer Simulation 3D (SSIM3D) viewer RoboViz was also introduced to integrate this tool with SPlanner. Domain experts can use this set of tools to capture a specific scene in a game in RoboViz and use it as an initial step for a new setplay recommendation in SPlanner. The resulting dataset is organized into fuzzy clusters to be used in a reinforcement learning strategy. This paper describes the whole process. Article Highlights This paper’s main contribution is generating a dataset of setplays to support learning from demonstration in robotic soccer. A set of new features were added to the Strategic Planner(SPlanner) to enable the design of more realistic setplays. The official RoboCup viewer (Roboviz) was integrated with SPlanner using a new demonstration mode .

Abstract: Multi-Agent Systems (MASs) have been used to solve complex problems that demand intelligent agents working together to reach the desired goals. These Agents should effectively synchronize their individual behaviors so that they can act as a team in a coordinated manner to achieve the common goal of the whole system. One of the main issues in MASs is the agents’ coordination; it is common for domain experts observing MASs execution to disapprove agents’ decisions. Even if the MAS was designed using the best methods and tools for agents’ coordination, this difference in decisions between experts and MAS is confirmed. Therefore, this paper proposes a new dataset schema to support learning the coordinated behavior in MASs from demonstration. The results of the proposed solution are validated in a Multi-Robot System (MRS) organizing a collection of new cooperative plan recommendations from the demonstration by domain experts.

Abstract: This work proposes a novel machine learning strategy to build new predefined cooperative plans in multiagent systems. State machines describe these plans, named setplays. Each state represents the current behavior of each agent following a setplay. In turn, a setplay requires conditions to define the transitions to other states and at least one final state. A final state may represent success or failure as a result of a setplay execution. We present a proposal to learn, from a human specialist knowledge, a dataset to enable agents to learn new setplays. Preliminary results from dataset exploration experiments are presented and future work is described.

Abstract: The development of a system able to recognize faces is a complex task. Beside, there are factors as inappropriate lighting and noise on images that impair this process. Therefore, to eliminate or reduce the impacts of these interferences, to set one more step in the recognition process could be a solution. Thus, the purpose of this work is to evaluate and analyze the impacts that can be created by the technics Gaussian Filter, Bilateral Filter and Histogram Equalization, in the recognition process using the Fisherfaces algorithm, on image sets under bad conditions.

Abstract: Este artigo descreve o desenvolvimento de um chute de longo alcance, o superkick, para jogadores de futebol na liga de simulação 3D da RoboCup. Essa estratégia foi adotada para conseguir vantagem competitiva sobre os outros times, focando principalmente nos lances de saída de bola para o time aliado, tirando proveito da garantia de posse de bola para marcar gols. Este trabalho trouxe resultados muito positivos e espera-se colocar o BahiaRT entre os melhores do mundo na próxima edição da RoboCup.

Abstract: Neste artigo foi realizado o estudo do módulo de formação estratégica do time de futebol simulado *EQUIPE*, bem como da ferramenta auxiliar Matchflow, utilizada para manipular intuitivamente as formações do time. O foco do estudo foi a formação em situações de cobrança de escanteio favorecendo o time aliado, na busca por aumentar o número de gols marcados nesse cenário. Contra times competitivos, situações de bola parada podem ser constantes ao longo do jogo, destacando assim a relevância de resultados positivos em estudos dessa natureza.

Abstract: Este artigo descreve o módulo de defesa cooperativa desenvolvido para um time autônomo de futebol de robôs. Acreditando que a inteligência artificial é capaz de superar limitações da movimentação, foi criado um novo estado comportamental para compor a tomada de decisão dos agentes: uma marcação focada no oponente com atual posse da bola, dando suporte de defesa ao jogador aliado em estado ativo. Este módulo foi desenvolvido durante a edição de 2014 da RoboCup, tendo sido inicialmente validado ainda em competição, e posteriormente através de testes automatizados, através dos quais foi possível perceber uma melhora não só na defesa do time, mas também em seu desempenho geral.

Abstract: Many real-world problems and competitions, such as RoboCup @Home, require that fully autonomous robots complete tasks inside a house. One such task requires that robots search for specific objects inside a house. Given the search space size, such operations can require significant computer resources. To avoid using expensive object matching operations within the entire space, we propose the use of saliency methods and color matching to discard regions which are unlikely to contain the desired object. Our results indicate that over 98.4% of the image search regions could be safely discarded, reducing the number of operations that have to be performed to find the desired object. Furthermore, after non-max supression, in average, only two regions remained per image.

Abstract: This article presents a survey on the use of Q-learning for decisionmaking problem of agents in the 2D simulated robot soccer. The aim of the research was the modeling and creation of a planner of high-level actions where players learn to make decisions during the game by trial and error. It also described the steps for creating and implementing the model, the results of the tests (performed only for attack scenarios) and finally the conclusions and suggestions for future work.

Abstract: Automation of all the phases of a game, limiting human intervention, is one of major goal of the RoboCup soccer leagues. Currently, most of RoboCup’s leagues are mainly concerned with increasing the autonomy of robot players when the game is going on, but not when the game stops, for example after a fault or goal, or at corner or goal kick events. The purpose of this work is to provide the server of the Mixed Reality (MR) league with the capability of driving the simultaneous movement of the players of both teams towards the positions they must occupy in such occasions when the game has stopped. In this paper a simple but robust collision-predictive model based algorithm for automatic repositioning of players in MR competitions with minimal number of collision events is described. The algorithm was tested in both real and simulated environments using task-oriented metrics with satisfactory results. This contribution attends to one of the development objectives stated by the MR Technical Committee at the 2010 meeting.

Abstract: Simulations play an important roll in the development of intelligent and collaborative robots. In this paper we describe the development of a simulator for the RoboCup Mixed Reality (MR) competition. MR uses a mix of simulated and real world to foster intelligent robotics development. Our simulator "virtualizes" the players within the MR hardware and software framework, providing the game server with the player-positional information usually supplied by the central vision system. To do that the simulator, after receiving the action commands from each agent (player) must track its expected trajectory and behavior in collision events for all the players. We developed fast algorithms for simulating the robot motion in most usual cases. The simulator was validated comparing its results against the real environment and proved to be realistic. This tool is important for setting-up, training and testing MR competition teams and could help to overcome current difficulties with robot hardware acquisition and maintenance.

Abstract: Este artigo descreve o trabalho técnico-científico desenvolvido no Agente Técnico da equipe Bahia2D no período de 2008. O Bahia2D ocupa, atualmente, o segundo lugar na modalidade Futebol Simulado 2D da RoboCup América Latina. Neste período, o trabalho realizado com os jogadores heterogêneos, introduzido no time em 2007, foi atualizado para atender às inovações do simulador na sua versão mais atual. Este trabalho e seus resultados serão descritos neste artigo.
